πŸ“˜ O-Stats LIVE Help

From registration to publishing live results β€” step by step.

πŸ‘€ Register

1. Create an account

Open Register, enter your name, organisation/club, email and a password of at least 10 characters. If email verification is enabled, open the confirmation link first; otherwise you are signed in automatically.

Each organiser sees and manages only their own events. The system administrator can manage all users and events. Changing an event ID manually in the address cannot open another organiser’s administration page.

2. Create a LIVE event

Open My LIVE events β†’ New LIVE event. Enter the event name, planned start date/time, first stage, location and organiser. Leave Public enabled if spectators should see it.

Time zone: the browser tries to select your IANA time zone automatically. Check it before creating the event, especially when the event is in another country. All planned start times are interpreted in the event time zone.

Tip: Keep the event in Scheduled while preparing and testing it.

3. Event dashboard

At the top of every managed event you can see the current LIVE state, number of stages, start-list entries, results, last import and the public LIVE link. The preparation table shows StartList, optional CourseData, uploader readiness and incoming results for every stage.

β–¦ QR: use Show QR to display a scannable code for the public LIVE page. You can download it as SVG for printing. The QR is generated locally in the browser and does not use an external QR service.

Lifecycle: Scheduled β†’ LIVE β†’ Finished. Use the dashboard buttons instead of changing status manually.

4. Stages

One event may have one or more stages: Sprint, Middle, Long, Day 1, Day 2, Relay, etc. For every stage set its name, start time and format (Individual, Relay or Score/Rogaine).

A wrong test stage can be deleted from its red Delete stage control, as long as it is not the only stage of an active LIVE event.

5. Upload StartList and CourseData

StartList XML β€” recommended before the competition. It gives names, classes, SI cards and start times.

CourseData XML β€” optional but useful for controls, course order and richer live analysis.

Recommended order: 1. StartList XML β†’ 2. CourseData XML β†’ 3. ResultList XML/CSV.

Use IOF XML 3.x exported from OE12, MeOS, Condes or another compatible timing/course program whenever possible.

6. Choose the live data source

For each stage choose the primary ResultList source. The default and simplest option is Live Uploader. You can also let the server poll a permanent IOF XML ResultList URL.

πŸ’» Live Uploader / HTTP POST β€” download the .ostatslive configuration, select the XML/CSV file written by OE12/MeOS and start monitoring.

🌐 Remote IOF XML URL β€” enter a public http/https URL that always returns the current IOF XML ResultList. While the event is LIVE, O-Stats LIVE checks it automatically at the configured interval.

πŸ“‘ SPORTident Center: The optional Center connector uses the official REST punches API. Enter the Center Event ID and API key in the stage. These live punches supplement the main ResultList source and are useful for radio/intermediate controls.

When SPORTident Center is enabled, the cursor stores the last received Center punch ID so the next request asks only for newer punches. Reset the cursor only when you intentionally want to read the event again from the beginning.

βš™ Automatic source worker: On shared hosting, the administrator can configure the protected worker shown in System / health as a once-per-minute cron job. It keeps Remote XML and Center sources updating even with no active viewers. Public LIVE requests remain a faster lazy-poll fallback at the stage refresh interval.

7. Manual result upload

For a test or emergency update you can upload ResultList XML or a supported CSV directly from the stage administration. This does not require the Windows uploader.

8. Start the broadcast

Before the first real start, open the public page and verify names/classes. Then press Start LIVE. The public page will show the competition as LIVE and incoming results will update automatically.

πŸŽ™ Commentator view: on the public LIVE page use Commentator to focus the screen on the ranking, current leader, latest finisher, runners on course, latest finishers and radio passings. The setting is remembered in the browser.

The scheduled start time is important: started competitors can show elapsed time even before a finish result arrives.

9. Finish the LIVE session

After the final data update, verify the public page, stop the uploader and press Finish LIVE. The LIVE data remains in this standalone service and is not automatically sent to o-stats.eu.

10. Supported result input

  • IOF XML 3.x ResultList
  • IOF XML StartList
  • IOF XML CourseData
  • Individual, relay and score/rogaine data supported by the LIVE engine
  • CSV β€” class, name, club, SI card, start, time, place, status

Maximum upload file size: 25 MB.

11. Common problems

No results arrive: check that the stage accepts uploads, the correct .ostatslive file is loaded, monitoring is started and the source XML/CSV is really changing.

Wrong event/stage: download a new .ostatslive configuration from the exact stage. Each stage has its own protected endpoint.

Account emails: Verification and password-reset messages include a clear action button, the expiry time and a plain-text fallback link.

Lost password: on the Login page choose β€œForgot password?”, enter your organiser email and use the one-time link sent to you. The link is valid for 60 minutes.

Email verification: if the administrator requires verification, new organisers receive a confirmation link after registration. Existing accounts are not locked when the option is first enabled.

🌐 Important

O-Stats LIVE is independent from o-stats.eu. Creating a LIVE event here does not create a competition in O-Stats statistics, and O-Stats competitions are not automatically imported here.
